Sustainability training simulations

Become a sustainable business by connecting decision-making with the sustainability of your organisation.

Sustainability training simulations

GoGreen.Inc is an experiential business simulation that connects everyday decisions with the sustainability of the organisation

Split into different departments and roles, teams have to turn round a wasteful business with a negative carbon position, while still running it as a business.

Played in a room or online, participants learn by running a virtual company through several years of trade, seeing the environmental and commercial consequence of each decision before the next one.

The trade-off is the point. Sustainability commitments are easy to agree and hard to fund. The simulation puts both in front of the same team at the same time, which is where the real argument lives.

The GoGreen.Inc sustainability simulation

What a day surfaces

Five things teams tend to discover about themselves, none of which anyone has to be told.

01

Business empathy

Silo thinking has consequences. Teams learn to anticipate problems before they happen.

02

Team collaboration

Teams rapidly realise that the only way they can win is by working together.

03

Building trust

Inter-departmental trust is critical. Teams learn what it takes to work in harmony.

04

Systems thinking

360 degree thinking, with teams considering the whole organisation rather than their corner of it.

05

Common goals

Teams work out for themselves what strategy a successful organisation actually needs.

Learning outcomes

GoGreen.Inc helps organisations move sustainability commitments from the policy document into the decisions people actually make.

Environmental, social and governance

  • Environmental: sustainable sourcing, an understanding of the legislation that applies, and targets that fit the organisation
  • Social: welfare in the workplace, diversity and inclusion, and community initiatives
  • Governance: how best practice spreads, and how the legislative environment shapes it

What people leave with

  • The difference between Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and why it matters commercially
  • Where environmental, social and governance policy making genuinely differ
  • Communication, collaboration and the sharing of best practice on ESG
  • ESG thinking embedded in ordinary decisions rather than bolted on afterwards

ESG training: experiential learning

Experiential learning is the most reliable way we know of driving organisational change, sharpening thinking and creating connections that last.

Recreating real business conditions lets people learn by doing, which produces a different level of engagement from being told.

26 weeks in 26 minutes

The simulations are designed for groups of 5 to 15 people and divided into three to four rounds. Each round is 26 minutes and involves the equivalent of 26 weeks of trade. After each round, teams reflect and learn from past mistakes to improve their performance in the next one.

Twenty six minutes is one round. Watch the clock for a moment and you have the idea.

How it runs

Three ways to engage

Most clients start with us in the room and change that once they know what they are looking at.

We run it for you

We facilitate the day and work with your people beforehand to understand what you are trying to find out.

You get the session and our reading of what happened in it.

Best for

Team diagnostics, leadership away days, pilots before a wider rollout

Talk to us

A partner runs it with you

Several organisational development and leadership consultancies deliver our simulations inside their own programmes.

If the day is one step in something longer, a partner can build it into the programme and carry the work on afterwards. We will suggest one who fits.

Best for

Leadership programmes, change initiatives, blended development

Ask who we would suggest

Your own people run it

Once you have seen a day run and want it across the organisation, we train your facilitators over two days.

You get the simulation and the capability to run it. What you do not get is us in the room, so the debrief becomes yours to make.

Best for

Organisation‑wide rollout, repeat cohorts, in‑house academies
